As we celebrate and honor members of the LGBTQIA+ community and the work of activists, we recognize the hard-fought achievements of the past and the urgency of supporting LGBTQIA+ rights today.

Community Pride

The first Pride march 鈥 the Christopher Street Liberation Day March 鈥 was held in New York City on June 28th, 1970 on the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. North Carolina鈥檚 first march, 鈥淥ur Day Out,鈥 took place on June 27, 1981 in Durham in response to anti-gay violence.
